Captain Of Sunken Cruise Ship Says I Messed Up

The cruise captain accused of abandoning ship when the Costa Concordia struck rocks, causing the deaths of eleven people, has reportedly told cruise ship chiefs: 'I messed up', sources claim. Capt Francesco Schettino, who was jailed after he left the ship, is under house arrest near Naples. He is facing charges of manslaughter and abandoning ship after he allegedly left the liner before hundreds of passengers. Schettino has claimed he tripped and fell into a lifeboat. Sky Sources said today he has told his bosses that he "messed up after hitting rocks" Previously he has maintained that he did all he could in the aftermath of the smash. The revelation came on Saturday as divers resumed their search for the 21 people still missing on board the ship.Divers used explosives to blast holes in the ship, creating more entry - and escape - routes.
